A WELSH JOINT OMNIBUS BOARD.

A Municipal Organization which is now Functioning.

TTNDER a section of the MynyddisU lwyn Urban District Council Act of 1926 power was conferred on the council to associate with the urban district councils of adjoining areas in setting up a West MonmouthShire Joint Omnibus Board in connection with the plying for hire of motorbuses, subject to assent being obtained from the Ministry of Transport for services before they are instituted. During the summer months the various councils concerned have appointed their representatives to the Board, which commenced its executiNe functions and deliberations as from October 1st.

Important decisions have now been taken and application to the Ministry for its assent to the establishment of routes on which buses may ply for hire is to be made as follows

(1) Prom the boundary of the area of the Bedwas and Machen Urban District Council, near Bryn, to the river bridge

at Ystrad Mynach in the area of the Bedwas and Maehen Urban District Council; (2) along the road in the area of the Caerphilly Urban District Council from the Ystrad Mynach river bridge to Ystrad Mynach station ; (3) on the following routes in the area of the Gellygaer Urban Distriet Council: (a) from the river bridge at Ystrad Mynach, via Ystrad Mynach Square to Ystrad Mynach station, (b) from the river bridge at Aberhargoed to the square at Bargoed ; (4) on roads in the area of the Rhymney Urban District Council from New Tredegar to Rhymney and to the northern end of Abertwsswg village.

Objections may be made to the proposals by non-constituent councils of the joint board 'or by private companies. As a matter of fact the proposals here detailed concern roads in the areas of two non-constituent authorities, one of which operates its own buses, so opposition is expected.
