TWO vehicles comprise the exhibits on this stand, one being a 30 cwt. chassis and the other a 30 cwt, tilt van.'" The Vinot is a French machine which has achieved a very fine reputation, particularly during the war, and from this the vehicle gained its name "Verdun." Throughout it is ;well designed with a view to accessibility and long life.

The engine is a four-cylindered monobloc with a bore and stroke of 80 mm, and 130 mm. respectively, the cylinders being L-headed. This unit is of particularly clean design, and it is supported, together With the gearbox, on a subframe formed of two parallel pressed channel-section steel members. The radiator is of tubular construction, the tubes being provided with fins: ' The drive to the gearbox is taken through a leather-faced cone with adjustable springs. Four speeds forward and a reverse are provided. The ens' ing of the gearbox encloses the rear universal joint of the clutch shaft.

A propeller shaft with two universal joints, that at the front being of the fork-and-pin type, and the other of the sliding block type, takes the drive to the bevel-driven rear ext. The latter unit presents many interesting features. It is of the double type, in which the , • load is carried by one member and the • diiving done by the other.
