VEVE examples of these well-known French vehicles are shown, these being a bare 30 cwt. chassis, and a similar chassis equipped with a char-5-banes body, .a,nd also a box Yen body, a 2 ton vehicle, and lastly a taxicab.

As there are three vehicles of the 30 mt. typo shown, we will proceed with a description of the construction of this model. The engine employed is a. fourcylindered monoteicc, with all the valves on the, near side, the bore and stroke being 80 mm. by 130 tam respectively. Its normal speed 19 in the neighbourhood of 1,200 r.p.m., but it can be accelerated to 1,500, when it develops 24 h.p. It is rated by the manufacturers as a 13-24

hip. chassis. A centrifugal governor, eituated on the timing gearcase, controls an auxiliary throttle, and limits the speed of the vehicle to 29 m.p.h. The water •

circulation is by Tamp, the latter being situated in front of the timing ease at the offside; at the back of the timing case, in line with the pump, is an S.E.V. inagnete. The engine lia.s an exeeption

The drive is taken throagh a leather cone clutoli and double-rubber fabric

disc universal joints to the In -speedand-reverae gearbox, which is itrnateid amidships; the control lever is rated on the gate change principle. Sebind the gearbox is situated a neat foe brake with internal expanding shoes. The cardan shaft is of the tubular ty , and

it. is provided at its front end with a uni. versal joint of the sliding block type and at the rear end with a star type jeiiit.

The back axle incorporates a doablereduction gear, the first. reduction being through a spur gear to an internally'. toothed pinion, the latter driving the bevel pinion. To the bevel wheel is attached an ordinary type of differential gear. The hand brake operates on drums bolted to the rear wheals, the shoes being of the internal-expanding type, and a compeneator is fitted.

All the wheels' are built up from pressed steel discs riveted to the rims, those at the. rear being provided with twin pneumatic tyres, whilst single peen. mm-tics are fitted on the front. • The small char-a-hence body to seat 15 people fitted on this model is a compact and handsome little :vehicle.

The 2 ton chassis is also rated by the makexs as a 13-24 h.p. model, and its engine:details are similar to those in the lighter chassis.

The 12-16 h.p. cab chassis is fitted with a standard London typo cab body. This vehicle sells at 2875 complete.
