'stand—a 15,8-Inp. one ton chassis, mounted on Michelin pneumatic tyres. (twin tyres on rear wheels); a 22.4 h.p. three ton chassis on solid tyres; a 22.4 h.p. chassis ea tripped with platform lorry capable of handling loads of five tons; and a 38.8 h.p. chassis equipped 'with a tipping body capable of dealing with seven ten loads. In each chassis a four-speed gearbox is included in the specification, and the final drive to the rear wheels is by bevel gear, the rear springs in each case being -under-sIung,, and the drive and torque being taken through the front half of the springs. The five ton platform lorry is equipped with a canopy over the driver's seat. The tipping wagon, .however, is not so protected. The tipping 'body on this latter vehicle is operated by a twin ram, mounted in the frame immediately over
the rear axle. • The 'engine of the I ton chassis is fourcylinclered monobloc, of 80 mm. bore by 140 nim. stroke, and is is designed with its magneto and electric starter brought to the front end so that these important
details shall be readily 'accessible upon the bonnet being lifted. In fact, engine ancessibility has always been a notable feature of the Renault chassis.
The 22.4 h.p. engine is also a monobloc, the cylinder bore being 95 mm. and the piston stroke 160 men. On the 3 ton chassis quadrant control for ihe gear cheuges is retained. The cylinder dimensions of the 38.8 h.p. engine are 126 sum. bore by 160 men. stroke. In the 7 ton chassis with -this engine, and also on the 1 ton -chassis, gate change is employed.
