STAND No. 47.

PrHE Karrier exhibits on Stand :No. 47 are this year of more than usual interest. Not only has the chassis deaigrt been modified in various ways, and a new design of engine been installed, but the bodywork with which the exhibits are fitted is of an unusually interesting type.

In view of the great. popularity of the motor coach, many visitors will be interested to see the Karrier "Superb " coach, a vehicle which has been designed quite regardless of cost, with the idea of providing a passenger-carrying vehicle which shall have the comfort, finish, and appearance of a high-class touring car. The special method of construction employed in the body framing enseres rigidity, and special locks are fitted to the door. The radiator is highly polished and the steering column and the brake and change-speed levers are heavily plated; the upholstery also is very laxnFiona. This vehicle will well repay Inspection.

Tramway and omnibus managers will perhaps be more interested in the omnibus which Karrier Motors are also exhibiting. There are many special features in this body, which is constructed on Hickman's patents. It is extremely ,light, and .the rigidity of the whole framework is remarkable.

Another interesting machine on the Karrier stand is the road sweeper, which sprinkles the road, sweeps up the refuse, and collects it in a hopper simultaneously. It is believed to be the first machine of its description which has been able to perform all three operations at one and the same time.

The-Karrier exhibit is undoubtedly one of the most interesting in the Show, and, the new design of engine fitted with which the chassis has now been equipped is unquestionably a very fine piece of work. Whilst being exceptionally neat, the design is remarkable for the great acce, ssibility of these parts which may need' attention from time to time. The arrangement of the water and oil pump is particularly good, and the oil filter is very well placed. The water-jacketing of the aluminium induction pipe has been very well arranged, as the water is drawn from the hottest part of the engine for the purpose of heating up the incoming mixture. The one.piece gearbox casting which is now employed is a distinct advance on the former design, and the double-rechiction rear axle is a triumph of neat and accessible arrangement.

It was a novel idea of Karrier Motors, Ltd., to exhibit a special lorry body from which visitors are enabled to see the various types of bodywork that could be fitted. It is so much easier to form an impression of what a body is like from actual inspection than from mere descriptions and drawings.
