Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

5 ton Tip Wagon. New Undertype Steamer.

STAND No. 18.

AS WE anticipated, the Clayton stand is a great attraction. The new overtype wagon itself, apart from all else, jumps at once to the eye, on account of the considerably improved appearance and utility of the driver's cab, which is 110'07 thoroughly enclosed, and affords ample protection to it occupant, no matter what may be the weather. This rearrangement of the cab is the principal external improvement on the old model Clayton overtype, There are many others which do not, however, jump to the eye as it does Old users will, however, by a close examination, note the improvement, in the feed pump drive. It is now on the near side of the engine_, and may, consequently, be worked with th.e engine idling and the wagon stationary,

a uSeful facility not afforded in the older construction. The example of this type of wagon is a tipper, and the tipping gear itself is Cmite new, being operated by a steani-driven motor working on novel . lines. This little turbine, or rotary steam engine, as it should More properly be described, drives the tipping gear direct through a short train of gearing.

The other exhibit, the undertype, is attracting all the notion which it deserves, Considerable space was devoted to a detailed description of this chassis in our issue of the 28th ult., so that we need not dwell on it again here, beyond reminding our readers that it is an entirely new model and the first of its type to be manufactured at the Lincolnshire works. Appreciation of some of its de.tails is afforded by the interesting display of some of them which is made on the stand. Particularly does this apply to the boiler, and the separate exhibit of this component is continuously, surrounded by a knot of experienced steam wagon users and .drivers, who, naturally . aware of the steam wagon's weak point, are ansous to know how far trouble is to be eliminated in this latest design. There is also a separate exhibit of the patent valve gear, as well as of several of the products of the Clayton Forge.
