TT: N BELSIZE works have concentrated on a single model. Long years ago this was a matter of general advocacy, and the Americans have not been slow to see its advantages and to adopt it. The works of Belsize Motors, Ltd., are admirably adapted for the -pursuit of this policy ; hence their touring car, taxicab, and van are virtually alike except' for such matters as springing. Leaving the first-named vehicle out of our consideration, we find that the taxicab chassis has three-quarter elliptic . springs at the rear, whilst the van has semi elliptics, these being carried outside the frame on brackets and shackles. The torque, drive, and brake reactions are taken by the top leaf of the spring in both cases. The engine and gearbox form (as they have done for some years in the case of this make) a unit, which is suspended at three points on the frame, the formed support being a Skelko ball bearing enshrouding a portion of the length of the starting handle bracket, on which a. plain cylindrical, surface has been turned. Two arms at the rear end of the engine extend practically to the side members of the frame pivots on these arms, taking a bearing in suitably designed brackets on the frame. The ball bearing forward support permits the frame to .give road inequalities without throwing any strain on the engine supports. The gearbox gives the usual three speeds and reverse, the levers for gear changing and brake application being carried on a bracket bolted to the gearbox and disposed at7 the driver's right hand. The flywheel and clutch are only partly enclosed, so that the clutch and its control gear are, always visible, and can be. readily attended to, The final drive is by bevel gear to a full Boating axle. The taxicab and the van -body are both well constructed, and should continueto give the satisfaction that has always been experienced be users. The van body is capacious, and its capacity —also the capacity of the ehassie—ia 12 cwt. The rake of the steering column makes for comfort, whilst protection is given by an ample canopy and a concave metal windscreen. For economy of running and maintenance, the Belsize bears a good name everywhere. .
