SHORT HAULS
Rates warning
TANKER operators have been warned by the Road Haulage Association to make sure rates they charge are in line with current costs — and they should be making frequent approaches to customers about rates.
The RHA says operators must go to their customers to allow for the continually rising prices of replacing both vehicles and their tanks, which have to be maintained to a high standard.
Operations for members of the bulk liquids group of the RHA have increased by around 18 per cent over the year which ended October 1 — and since then there has also been another price rise in fuel of about 1.5 per cent.
