• Kent haulier Tony McPherson had a £3,000 windfall from his goods in transit insurance last week, just one week after the insurer rejected his claim For stolen goods. McPherson's Kim International company received a billfor more than 236,000 last week after insurance company Guardian repudiated a claim for stolen clothes because the goods stolen From his trailer were of a higher risk than the terms of the policy dictated.
A Guardian spokesman says: "The original policy was not based on the right terms and conditions. We feel obliged to return the amount paid in such circumstances." McPherson was covered under the terms of that policy during the intervening period, he says.
