IN HIS ELECTION as an honorary member of the Road Haulage Assocation, Noel Wynn has joined a small, august band of men who have been thus distinguished for outstanding service to the road transport industry. Perhaps surprisingly, only five of the nine — Noel, Ronnie Butt, Willie McMillan, Philip Turner and James Barrie — have been chairman of the association.
The others are Dick Farmer, who eschewed the highest office but contributed a great deal of time and wisdom to the RHA; George Quick Smith, a notable official of the association and Sir Reginald Wilson and Sir Daniel Pettit, both of whom became chairman of what is now the National Freight Consortium.
