LONG TIME advocate of rubber suspensions, the North West Water Authority, has recently specified a system produced by the new rubber suspension company, Tadchurch of Kettering, for five of its latest Leyland Constructor six rigids.
The Tadchurch system claims to employ the properties of rubber quite differently from other units currently available.
With rubber bolsters mounted transversely the system is said to provide suspension anti-roll stability, articulation and load equalisation between the individual axles of a tandem bogie. Reduction in maintenance costs, however, remain the main advantages in using rubber suspensions of any make.
