JOHN FOSTER HUMPHREYS, former chairman and managing director of the Foster Group of Companies of Preston died on May 2.
Mr Foster Humphreys pioneered the promotion of the tachograph in this country when he started to import them from Switzerland in the sixties. He was prominent in political and social affairs in Preston, and was leader of the town's council from 1971 to 1973.
