Bus station opened

COUNCILLOR John H. Berry, JP, Chairman of the Greater Manchester Council, opened Rochdale's new Greater Manchester Transport bus station on Tuesday.

Improved system

BASILDON New Town is to get an improved public transport system.

Six new bus routes will be operated by NBC subsidary Eastern National. The changes follow detailed studies by Basildon Development Corporation, Basildon-Council, Eastern National and Essex County Council.

Wanderbus 9 launched "NATIONAL Wanderbus", the NBC one-fare inter-operator ticket was launched last week.

The ticket will be available for use on National Buses — operated by 20 subsidiary companies in an area from the Humber to Cornwall, the Channel coast to the Mersey, and throughout Wales.

The ticket is priced at £2.40 for adults and £1.50 for children under 14.

Artics' appearance

AFTER being ignored in France, articulated buses have made an appearance on town services in Toulon.

The buses are Saviem SG 220 powered by the MAN 162 kW 220bhp) engine with the Voith D851 transmission. They are in fact MAN buses built under licence by Saviem in France.

Victims

AS many as 641 London Transport bus staff were attacked sufficiently serioously to need time off work because of shock or injury during 1977.

There were 307 reported incidents for all public bus operations in England and Wales for that same period.
