Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FREIGHTLINERS have just announced a trading profit of £1.4m for the year ended December 31.

This compares with £1.5m for the previous year. Gross revenue was £46.1m, which is up 17.6 per cent from £39.2m.

Container movements increased from 872,000 to 873,000, although the actual number of containers dropped , from 717,000 in 1976 to 714,000 in 1977 due to an increase in size of containers being used.

The company reports that a much better mix of traffic in 1977 produced an 18 per cent improvement in revenue over the previous year, even though the volume of traffic remained about the same.

A new mini-terminal was opened at Coventry in August and new rail container terminal facilities commissioned at the port of Ipswich were linked into the Freightliner terminal in February 1977.

Penetration

The report states that on the deep sea container side, the company increased its marketing penetration by selling tailor-made packages.

Freightliner now claims to be market leader in this field, handling some 40 per cent of all deep sea boxes moved in the UK.
