Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MR. Alec Kitson, general secretary Scottish Commercial Motormen's Union, thanked COMMERCIAL MOTOR at Linwood last Sunday for its sponsorship of the LDOY Competition and at the same time praised the local committee for their voluntary efforts in promoting the Glasgow eliminating round. "But", he asked, "where are the RHA members—conspicuous by their absence?"

Mr. Kitson was not alone in his search for missing persons. The Chief Constable of Renfrewshire and Bute, Mr. Alec Allen, suggested: "Those who talk of killer lorries should be here

today. These lorries are well-maintained and their drivers are highly skilled."

These speeches took place after an event which the Glasgow committee can be proud of. The Scottish contestants in the final will once again include Mr. W. Delaney, of Rootes (Scotland) Ltd., who won Class F(1) with a loss of only 50 penalty points.

As at Birmingham Class D produced the closest tussle. Three drivers from Kraft Foods Ltd. took first, second and third places with only 20 points separating first and third. Mr. J. Heaney who was declared champion driver with a loss of 38 points goes on to the Bramcote final. He also won the TRTA cup and his team captured the team award.

British Railways were well represented: they had 15 entries from a total of 110. They also provided the total Aand B-licenceholders entry and it was this which prompted Mr. Kitson to ask the whereabouts of the RHA members.

Provost John Johnston of Glasgow referred to the lack of "Westminster" support at the eliminating rounds. "If the Prime Minister can spend three hours watching schoolboys playing football at Wembley, surely the Minister of Transport can afford time to watch and encourage

this competition," he said. J.P.B.S.
