As in this country, rapid progress is being made in the design and construction of public-service vehicles and motor coaches in Germany. An accompanying illustration depicts one of the latest productions of the Zwickauer Pahreugfabrik Vormals Schumann Gesellschaft of Zwickau, Saxony, in the second of these categories. The chassis is a 2255 h.p. Audi, built by the Audi-Werke Gresellschaft of the same town, the speeification comprising a four-cylinder engine, brakes on all four wheels, 895 mm. Ey 135 mm. pneumatic tyres at the front and 875 mm. by 175 mm. equipment at the rear.
The body has seating accommodation for 11 persons, including, the driver— two in front and, three on each of the three rows of seats behind. Only two doors are provided .at each side, access to the rear rows of seats being through central tip-up seats in the first and second rows.
The vehicle is intended for fast travel,,c26
ling, and it is claimed that it can attain a speed of from 50 m.p.h. to 56 m.p.h. There would be no occasion for such speeds in this country
