Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Heron Distribution has begun two national contracts for DIY retailer Wickes, winning the business away from TNT Contract Distribution which had handled the work for several years.

Heron commercial director David Hall says the contracts involve deliveries to Wickes' 57 retail outlets from its Midlands distribution hub at Nether Ileyford, and home deliveries of kitchens and conservatories.

The contracts had come to the end of their life, says TNT, adding that Wickes' decision does not reflect on the quality of TNT's operation.

The Wickes contract is served by 20 vehicles which make daily deliveries on a just-in-time basis to Wickes' retail outlets. They then backload with manufacturers' goods for delivery to Nether Heyford.

When TNT ran the operation it used some of its own depots; it is not known yet how Heron will handle the logistics.
