• North Eastern Deputy Licensing Authority Brian Horner has renewed the three-vehicle licence held by Gilbert Chapple Haulage of Wakefield after he was told it had been cut down to manageable size.

Last June the DLA adjourned consideration of the renewal when it was said that a number of prohibitions related to vehicles not owned and operated by the company. He wanted to establish which vehicles were used by other companies that Gilbert Chapple was connected with.

Evidence was given that GCMC had surrendered its 0-licence and that Chapple Servi ces had held a licence for 12 years.

Homer commented that the transfer of vehicles had been legal, but added that it was all very misleading. He reminded the directors that they had a responsibility to advise the Traffic Area of vehicle transfers: if things were allowed to slip again a more serious view would be taken, said Horner.
