• P&O European Ferries and Sealink Stena will not be allowed to operate joint ticket prices in the near future, the Department of Trade and Industry has ruled.
The DTi has concluded that a joint service "would adversely affect competition prior to the opening of the Channel Tunnel". However, the department says that the two ferry companies are free to put in another request in the future.
I: Plans to start a FolkestoneBoulogne ferry service next month have been outlined by a group of former Sealink workers who were made redundant from the route last year. They are trying to raise £15m to launch the service.
