• Cummins will launch an uprated 261kW (350hp) version of its popular 10-litre L10 engine, with its CELECT full electronic control system, together with a more powerful 283kW (380bp) 14-litre Super E380 engine before the end of the year.
With the UK arrival of the CELECT L10 and E380, Cummins is expected to rationalise its heavy truck engine range, with the current E365 replaced by the expected E380 and the L10-350 CELECT moving up to fill the gap left by the demise of the E365. The long-serving E320 14-litre is also expected to be phased out.
The uprated 10-litre would undoubtedly offer distinct weight advantages to those operators wanting 261kW in a 38-tonner but without going to a 12 or 14-litre engine.
It is believed that evaluation trials are going ahead in the UK.
