Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WHICH COUNTRY in the EEC has the most realistic national transport policy? This was a question put by Euro Truck Press in an interview with Mr Fl. De Vos, president of the Belgian National Road Hauliers Association.

He thought ,that a very liberal policy had been brought to a successful issue in Great Britain; a planned economic policy succeeded in Germany; and a promotional policy of flexibility based on exacting professional competence .in the Netherlands. Belgium was attempting to make a ,harmonious synthesis from such policies.

In Belgium he thought a mistake in the past had been to regard foreign hauliers as rivals and not as colleagues.

His attitude to EEC Regulation 543/69? "The stupid limitation of 450km had to be abolished."

On British reticence to the tachograph. He did not criticise the control, but only the badly thought-out regulation which penalised hauliers. For instance, his mechanic, after finishing gearbox repairs, would still have to take the vehicle 'away for sealing.
