AN ABERDEEN oil service company had more than half its fleet curtailed by the Scottish deputy LA last week.

In January, Aberdeen Service (North Sea) Ltd was fined £330 at Aberdeen Sheriff Court after admitting nine charges of permitting drivers to work excessive hours and 10 charges of permitting drivers to keep false records.

Nine drivers admitted keeping ,false records and working excessive hours end another admitted keeping false records. They were fined a total of £545. In the inquiry, the company said the offences arose through lack of knowledge of regulations on the transport administration side and a demanding oil industry. Deputy LA Mr James S. Dalgetty curtailed the company's 04icerice by removing nine vehicles and trailers, leaving it with five vehicles and trailers, from the end of April. Nine drivers appeared in defence of their hgv licences and a tenth in support of renewal of his licence.

Mr Robert Guyan • and Mr John Morrison had their licences revoked from April 30. Mr John .Murray had his suspended for two months; Mr Brian McLaughlan, Mr James McLaughlan and Mr Roy McGregor had licences suspended for two weeks. Mr Dennis Nicol and Mr Norman Simpson were given severe warnings. Mr Andrew Forbes had his licence renewed.
