Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Fares on Green Line coaches will be increased from tomorrow (Saturday), London Country Bus Services Ltd has announced. The company states that it regrets the need to •increase fares, but continuing rises in operating costs, including the recent rise in fuel prices, have left no alternative.

The increases, approved by the Traffic Commissioners, will add amounts varying from 2p to 5p to adult fares, and from 2p to 4p in respect of children's fares. Maximum adult fare will be 60p for journeys of 50 miles and over.

Minimum fares will be raised from 8p to 10p in outer areas, and from 10p to 15p in Central London. A feature of the new scales is that adult fares are now in 5p steps to assist in change giving and thus help reduce delays on o-m -o coaches.
