Rimorchio Chipping Sodbury, Glos

Rimorchio's multi-axle positive-steer system will benefit hauliers delivering into sites with restricted access.

Working with sister company Truckmate Trailers, it has adapted the system initially on a triaxle tanker trailer and a flat tridem trailer, the latter being used by materials supplier Intasite of Goole for its brick and block deliveries.

Fifth wheel sensed, the axles steer electrohydraulically via kingpins instead of the more common turntable and bar method. The electrohydraulic system works in forward or reverse but only at speeds below 25km/11, above which it locks in the straight position via vehicle electronics.

Intasite MD Bryan Swales commends the system for its manoeuvrability and weight saving, while system designer Mike Gauntlett believes it will also interest anyone using rear-mounted forklifts.
