Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Andover Trailers' STGO range includes a new extending 67t step-frame trailer on Tridec powersteered BPW axles with radio-controlled ramps, powered steering, extension locks and parking brake.

It also has a full-length trough through the bogie.

With safety in mind, Andover's standard stepframe plant trailers now have updated braking systems and extra lashing points and lights.

Goldhofer trailers for UK and Irish customers include the eight-axle XLE. self-propelled modular bogies for standard extending step-frames, and ballast trailers.

It also builds centre-balance drawbar trailers for the latest Wirtgen 1.0m and 1.2m planers. With hydraulic ramps. power pack, conveyor support and steady legs, they weigh under 5.0t and give a 20t payload.

Broshuis (UK) Grantham, Lincs

Broshuis's exhibits at the SED Show included a fiveaxle triple step-frame extender with adjustable gooseneck and front lift axle. The hydraulic suspension has varying ride heights, the frame extends to 36m and there's full power steering from the kingpin using remote controls with automatic realignment.

A special tandem-axle low-loader with removable gooseneck can also carry vessels, its two extendible beams giving a 22m loadbed in the lower deck. It has the same power-steer system.

Also shown were a standard power-steered triaxle flat with up to 36m triple extensions to accept concrete or steel sections, and a triaxle stepped extendible with rear self-tracker, beavertails fore and aft, and outriggers.

Broshuis's options list includes clip-on rear ramps and various automatic lubrication systems such as Beka-Max or Groeneveld's Twin two-grease system.

Chieftain Trait Dungannon, Co Tyrone

Chieftain builds trailers for agricultural, commercial and industrial use.

They include multi-axled flatbeds and step-framed STGO plant carriers with optional steering axles, flip toe and powered sliding ramps., brick and block carriers: and a new range of galvanised midi low-loaders. It also makes smaller versions for mini-diggers.

Chieftain's STGO Cat 1 and 2 step-frame lowloaders are now joined by five-axled versions with passive steering on two rear axles. One was recently sold to Castle Contracts.

Its self-loading flat trailers are complemented by Chieftain's own new range of 2.5t to 7.0t forklifts.

Dennison Trailers Lancaster, Lancs

Dennison builds plant trailers, machinery carriers and extendibles for the construction and agricultural industries.

Cat 1 machinery trailers with threeor four-axle bogies have hydraulic ramps. air-operated hinged front ramps in the lower deck and air suspension with rear lifter as standard.

Its agricultural equipment or tractor transporters can carry 30 tonnes while the triaxle step-frame leleporter' trailer with optional rear lifter and air-over-hydraulic rear ramps accepts wheeled machinery such as JCBs, tractors, teleporters and access platforms.

Dennison's straight or drop-frame extendibles stretch at 1.5m intervals to 21.5m and have self-track rear steer axles and twist locks. Pneumatic locking pins are standard.

Faymonve Traffco Corby, Northants

Faymonville's UK agent Traffco has service support from Rydam Universal of Leeds.

The range includes top-weight multi-axled lowbed trailers with Pendelmax rear bogie steering that gives 60° swing angles for extra manoeuvrability.

Its chamfered 900x550mm centre trough will accept digger booms or cylinders. Minus the quickrelease dolly, it becomes a four-axle low-bed or a step-frame semi.

Variomax models use a two or three-'swing' axle front bogie between the newly designed gooseneck and loadbed.

Faymonville's forklift trailer is updated: it has a 9.0t hydraulic tilting platform stretched by 400mm to 9.6m. gives a 6° loading angle and carries 25t-plus payloads.

Kassbohrer Goch, Germany

Klissbohrcr's multi-axle-low-loaders include a 47tpayload extendible four-axled trailer with excavator trough, 3.5m forward extension and hydraulic folding ramps with flip-toes.

The 'Low Bed' range can be built with up to eight axles and options includes Tridec hydraulic steering and live power necks capable of carrying payloads of up to 90t.

Kel-Berg's UK branch supplies S30 low-loaders with STGO Cat 2 capability.

These are 13.5m triaxle step-frame trailers with hydraulic ramps and outriggers. It also builds rollerbed trailers equipped with Hiab cranes for brick and block transporters. They can be fitted with rear steering axles to assist with delivering materials into quite restricted sites.

King's wide range of low-loaders includes the GTS 26 two-mded urban artic plant trailer. This short step-frame design offers 20t payloads, and with matching 4x2 unit it is more cost effective than rigid carriers.

Other recent additions are four-axle powersteered Hydroneck low-loaders, which allow for easier, faster operation. They have lower deck and loading heights, and an integral boom gulley is optional.

Another King newcomer is its MTSE 78/5 powersteered, five-axle centre-spine step-frame semitrailer, which offers payloads up to 62 tonnes.

King customers include major blue-chip companies such as Extec, Hewden Plant and Lane Rental.

Montracon's construction ranee includes machinery trailers, building material carriers, flatbeds and extendibles.

On display at the recent SED Show was a 48-tonne CrCW machinery carrier with powered rear run-on ramps, powered neck ramp, outriggers and power pack.

Other trailers on offer include step-framed extendibles and flatbeds with a centrally mounted or rolling Terex/Atlas crane for brick and block work.

Standard flats used on steel haulage have special cargo floors and securing fittings, but they can be used for general loads too.

Apart from the machinery carrier, all of Montracon's trailers are available ex-stock and plated at 44t GCW.

Muldoon builds vehicles for handling building materials including crane-equipped brick and block trailers, flatbeds and artic cement mixers.

All are usually fitted with Muldoon 's own positive rear-steer system which allows operators to deliver much larger payloads to sites previously only accessible to rigid vehicles. It supplies them to customers in the UK and Ireland.

Royal Nooteboom Trailers' specialities are extendible and hydraulically steered low-loaders, semi lowloaders, and flatbed and modular semi-trailers.

Examples on show at the SED Show included a four-axle Euro low-loader, a four-axle Pendel-X lowloader and an extending semi low-loader for Russell Machinery Transport (RMT), Cheltenham.

Twin Groeneveld auto-lube systems are factoryfitted; this is the manufacturer's preferred choice for power-steered trailers, and the same systems are used on all 12 Nootebooms in RMT's fleet.

Nooteboom semi low-loaders can extend to 44m, and have up to eight self-tracking or hydraulic power steer axles to take loads up to 120t. Options include various floor heights and widths, and hydraulic or aluminium ramps.

Similarly, its low-loaders can extend to 35m. and have up to eight knuckle or pendulum hydraulic steer axles with jeep or inter dolly for 1201 loads.

Its product range includes brick and block trailers for the construction industry, and heavy-duty stepdeck low-loaders for machinery and construction use.

W Trailer's Emperor plant trailer is sold through Shawtrack Services.

Its sweeping stepless trailer-bed design with angular neck ramps and folding rear beavertail allows for easy loading.

Extra tie-down points are added by Shawtrack, which has a large number in its busy haulage and contract-hire fleet.

W Trailer also builds specialist flat trailers for cabin or plant movement, and a batch of six are currently under construction for Leeds-based Specialist Trailer Hire.

Its drawbar range includes lightweight plant trailers, heavy-duty hay and straw carriers plus a number of specialist drawbars with cranage for the brick and block sector. Ills currently building them for a contract with building supplies firm Marshalls.
