D-Tcc has appointed Bernard Hushion as sales director for the UK and Ireland.

To date the company has sold 45 of its four-axle split combi trailers to the UK container transport sector but it is currently awaiting the green light from the Department for Transport to try out new seven-axle road trains on UK roads. It's a configuration that D-Tec already sells in Belgium. France, Germany and Scandinavia.

Dennison Trailers Lancaster

Dennison Trailers' skeletal range runs from its benchmark four-lock fixed chassis to its MF (multifunctional) model for hauling two 20ft containers.

This can be used as a single vehicle or split into two trailers for extra flexibility.

Dennison's renowned sliding-bogie skeletal takes every size of container from 20ft to 45ft, and 13.6m intermodal containers.

Tanktainer operators have a choice of four or eight-lock trailers for ISO tanks up to 9.144m, and there are also tipping and timber versions.

Most of its skeletals are built at Lancaster and supported by Dennison's FastParts spares network, including a new site at Felixstowe.

Typical users include Benton Bros Transport, John Mitchell Transport and Bulmers Logistics.

K4ssbohre KassTal Trailers UK

UK agent KassTal Trailers is marketing Kassbohrer's latest triaxled 12-lock flat or gooseneck skeletal as an alternative to the UK's traditional sliding-bogie designs.

Fully retracted, it can haul 20ft and 30ft containers; with the front end extended pneumatically, it takes two 20ft or one 40ft box. With the rear section pushed out it will carry either a 45-footer or a 13.6m cargo box.

Kassbohrer also produces a tipping version for ISO tanks or containers.

M&G Trailers Lye, W Midlands

Following last October's MBO, M&G Trailers has resumed chassis manufacture.

Its workforce of 36 is currently producing 10 chassis per week with a choice of discor drumbraked running gear.

Its current order book of 130 trailers includes ISO tanktainers for Collease, step-frame roof-truss carriers and curtainsider chassis for Fagan & Whalley, and platforms and PSKs for Richard Freighter Transport and ATE of Wolverhampton.

It is also building rolling crane chassis for ACB Hydraulics and coil carriers for Ray Keedwell.

Most of the current orders are small-volume, bespoke chassis — always one of M&G's great strengths.

It expects to be making 14 chassis a week by summer, with a lead time of 12 to 16 weeks.

Martrans Trader_ Gainsborough, Lincs

Specialist trailer manufacturer Martrans exhibited a new sliding tipping skeletal at last month's Tip-Ex.

Built for 20ft boxes, it joins a full range of tipping skeletals able to discharge containers up to 40ft.

Other examples include ones equipped with drypowder discharge equipment powered by either diesel or electrical systems. These are used by the chemical and food industries to discharge powders or granules pneumatically from shipping containers into bulk silos.

Martrans has built them for a large number of dedicated bulk hauliers around Europe, but the Tip-Ex number was constructed for Specialist Trailer Hire. Leeds.

Montracon Doncaster, S Yorks

Montracon is a major I K supplier of skeletals, especially those with rolling bogies.

With their special swing-over brackets on rear twist-locks and sturdy roller mechanisms, they're designed to handle all sizes of ISO containers up to the 45ft box, without the overall vehicle length exceeding the legal maximum.

Options can be added retrospectively or to 'exstock' models in the build process.

One major user is Freightliner Road Services which has over 100 in its fleet.

The Muldoon sliding-deck skeletal is designed for blowing containerised loads of sugar and plastics (2C/ft and 30ft) and is capable of running at 44 tonnes GVW.

This is not always possible with other blowing skeletal trailers.

Muldoon has also invested a lot of R&D into the rapidly growing wood pellet market.

The Muldoon rear-steering system allows for vehicles to deliver decent payloads into storage sites that have awkward access roads.

SDC manufactures a range of rigid and extending skeletaLs designed to carry all sizes and combinations of ISO containers at 44 tonnes GCW.

The range includes tanktainer versions with stainless-steel drip trays and hose attachments. Others with ADR wiring for the petrochemical industries have a range of bespoke options.

Platform skeletals with four and eight locks and the 'all-seasons sliding skeletal are popular with most major container carriers and trailer rental fleets.

These include TIP and Hill hire, which have over 100 standard sliders, and Seven Assets of Ipswich, which has 50.

Options include front-axle lift for extra traction, auto-drop systems, reversing sensors, 'Ouicklock' twistlocks and pull-out fronts. SDC also builds slim-necked models for intermodal work, tunnel container specials and slopers for very heavy ISO tanks.
