With the pick-up market becoming fully rejuvenated in the past couple of years, we can safely report that there are no real turkeys to fall fowl of.
However, putting the latest generation into some sort of hierarchy is another matter altogether, and that includes the Mazda.
While not trouncing the competition in any jaw-dropping way, Mazda's BT-50 152 still delivers the goods in a most reassuring manner, and does so without complaint or discernable negative.
We particularly liked the engine, with its easy power delivery and sound manners, along with the well-planned, welt-designed interior (minus umbrella handbrake) and tight build quality.
Off-road, this pick-up proves to be a more than capable performer, digging in when needed and riding with a level of composure that allows you to cover ground at speed.
And finally, for those who like a bit of exclusivity, buy one of these and there's every possibility you'll be the only person on your street who has one.
