Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Lymm dampers receive ultimatum

THE COMPANY running Lymm Services in Cheshire has told clampers they will be kicked off the park if they wait until truck drivers are out of sight before swooping on their vehicles.

The ultimatum follows CM's highlighting of unreasonable practices at the essential truck park, notably one incident in which clampers targeted a 70-foot lowloader only after the driver had left his cab and walked 50 feet to the toilet (Driver livid as crafty clamper swoops on loo-break low-loader', CM 8 May).

The driver of the vehicle, which belonged to Wilmslow, Cheshirebased Bennetts, had parked in a coach bay due to lack of room.

Moto Hospitality, which runs the M6 services, met with Preston-based Parking Eye after the incident and ordered it to change its practices.

A Moto spokesman says: We have had discussions with Parking Eye, the company which manages parking at Lymm on our behalf and to whom the dampers are subcontracted.

"We told Parking Eye that the behaviour of the clampers in this case was unacceptable and would not be tolerated in the future. We asked for the message to be relayed to the clamping company."

The spokesman adds: "While we accept that the driver in this particular instance was clamped unfairly, we would remind all drivers that it is their responsibility to ensure they are parked in the proper area before leaving their vehicles."

Parking Eye refused to commenton the meeting.
