• Wincanton Logistics is to change its management in the wake of disappointing results For the year to the end of March.
The company increased its sales by 14% to more than £440m, but only managed a 1.7% increase in profits to £23.4m. This represents a return of 5.3%.
The retail and manufacturer divisions performed well but were let down by the poor performance of the transport division, with sharp falls in profits from the chemicals and fuel distribution sectors.
Despite this, Wincanton's parent company Unigate says distribution is one of the areas driving the group.
