Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A COACH PARTY of British pensioners was hurtling along unfenced Cretan mountain roads, swinging to left and right around bend after bend. Whether to reassure the passengers or not, the courier said that local coach drivers were retired at 45.

If this were true, it would suggest a serious waste of skill. A survey in Britain by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory indicates that drivers of 55-64 are safest of all. Drivers over 65 have problems at junctions and particularly at • right turns, but otherwise this age group has "appreciably lower than average accident involvement rates".

The oldies are, the THRL finds, far safer than drivers under 25. I have now cancelled my order for a bath chair.
