Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Could you please say whether I must keep log sheets and adhere to drivers' hours regulations when on work of this nature?

On another subject, can a vehicle overdue for plating be used on the road on trade plates, for the purpose of collection from a previous owner's premises when partexchanged for a new vehicle?

AA vehicle overdue for plating and testing can be used on the road on trade plates for the purposes of collection from a previous owner's premises.

You do not have to keep records of your hours of work when driving a chassis/cab or a vehicle on trade plates but, if the vehicle has a body on it so that it is capable of carrying goods, then the drivers' hours regulations must be observed. If the vehicle is in chassis/cab form the question of whether the drivers' hours have to be observed is debatable. The matter depends upon whether the courts interpret a chassis/cab to be a goods vehicle.

However, to be on the safe side it would be better to comply with the hours regulations in such cases.
