TWO OPERATORS are trialling a security tarpaulin developed by sheeting company Dawbarn & Son and PVC textiles manufacturer Serge Ferrari.
The Defender contains PVC mesh cloth manufactured using closely-spaced, anti-corrosion treated, multi-strand steel cables set in pairs 40mm apart, which is woven into the base cloth. It is knife-proof and increases wear and tear resistance when loads are in contact with a cover. Kent-based Eurobulk moves bulk products on the Continent and MD Andrew Miller wants a cover that can prevent illegal immigrants gaining access to trailers.
“Our clients wanted a vehicle offering greater security for their products when being transported. We are delighted with Defender’s success,” he says.
Recycling and waste haulier Viridor wants a cover for movingloor trailers that would last longer than a standard PVC cover.
