Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

at this year's European Tow Show, held at the Telford International Centre.

In addition to the largest number of stands exhibiting recovery equipment in the show's history, the Road Haulage Association (RHA),Vosa and Institute of Vehicle Recovery were also present.

Among the ancillary activities were working demonstrations of recovery equipment outside and discussions and forums inside.

Big cranes dominated in the exhibition halls, in particular the Canadian-built NRC sliding rotator, with five examples on show. Specialist recovery body builder Roger Dyson is the UK importer of these robust extending jibs with a lifting capacity of up to 60 tormes. The crane slides the length of the truck's body, which can be moved sideways on its extendable support legs, keeping the boom close and allowing optimum lifting capacity. One example was mounted on a Volvo FM,T-ride,8x2 chassis and was formally handed over to its new owner, Aldershot-based McAllisters Recovery, at the opening of the show.

The 13-litre, Euro-4, SCR, 480hp Volvo features hub reduction axles, a manual 14-speed range change and splitter gearbox. There's also a detachable fifth axle at the rear in order to meet axle weight requirements for accredited heavy recovery operators.

The Volvo can pull up to 100 tonnes, took a year to plan and build and cost in the region of £280,000. It will work the southern section of the M25, Britain's busiest stretch of motorway.

Iveco had a number of chassis on display. The Italian manufacturer has always had a strong presence in the recovery industry at the lighter weights with its Daily and EuroCargo ranges. This year its Trakker construction and heavy-duty chassis appeared to be selling well, with 8x4 examples carrying the livery of Egertons and Snuggle.

Isuzu was strongly represented with the charismatic Nikki King, the only manufacturer's MD present, Its vehicles were to be seen on many stands as well as its own, the recovery industry being Isuzu UK's strongest market.

Isuzu's 7.5-1onne Q PR chassis has a Euro-4 engine rated at 190hp; its increasingly popular six-speed automated Easyshift gearbox is specified by around 40% of customers.

"Our relationship with this industry is very special... this business runs as a family," said King, who sits on the RHA Rescue and Recovery group.Another member of the group, operator Mark McAllister, summed up the essence of the Isuzu's customer appeal as being "the three-year warranty". to
