Rikki Chequer, community manager for Truck/Vet UK, reports on the past week's hot topics of discussion among members of the UK's leading bternet forum for professional drivers.

While drivers often complain of slow tips, a thread dedicated to the quickest tip' has been opened. From RDCs to local builders' merchants it seems there are a few places that try to get the wagons tipped as soon as possible. If long waits are the bane of your life, log onto the Professional Drivers forum to see where you should be going.

Female drivers are no longer such a rarity, but it seems there are still small bastions of chauvinism holding out. As one female truck driver puts it: From the moment I pulled up at the gate I appeared to acquire not two, but three heads. Every bloke in the place stopped with their mouth wide open and came to offer unnecessary assistance."

The full story and comments from other female drivers continue in a thread titled 'A Real Life Time Machine in Knowsley Ind Ear.

Finally, away from the forums, three members of TruckNet UK beat more than 2,700 entrants to make it to the semi-finals of Scaniais Young European Truck Driver of the Year competition held at Gaydon Motor Heritage museum on 7/8 July. Two then carried on to reach the final held on 15 July. A full report on how they did and who will be going to Sweden for the chance to win a brand new truck will be on the website later this week Congratulations to Bones, Flying Fenman and ex Muppet for reaching the final.
