Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Well, the price is likely to be low, which makes this 26-tanner an attractive proposition—as long as you're aware of its limitations. Building lightweight 26-tonners, the trick is to pare weight without sacrificing strength. Seddon Atkinson has kept the standard chassis frame and suspension, but saved half-a-tonne with the smaller engine, transmission and cab. But there are drawbacks.

Even rated at 28ohp, the small engine lacks the slogging power of the larger Cummins Mn engine: it can just about cope with hilly terrain. Working it hard will inevitably compromise lifespan but although engine reliability seems sound. However, Eaton does have a problem with its 8209A gearbox that is matched to the modest torque of this engine. The solution is to fit a stronger version of the nine-speed synchromesh box, with a minor weight penalty.

Iveco's small T5 cab has operational advantage as well as contributing to the overall weight saving. It may be small but it's more than adequate for local operations, making it a strong mixer chassis competitor to the Atego 6x,4 from Mercedes.

As long as this machine can do the job you have in mind, it will be a bargain.
