Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• After providing bodywork for other manufacturers' twin decked semi-trailers, Power Bodies of Rayleigh has produced its own design of double decker.

The body has a distinctive sloping front roof section and provides 1,838mm between floors, each being served by the Ross & Bonnyman 1-tonne column lift.

Its upper floor elevates through a series of cables by means of a single underfloor hydraulic ram. A remote control pneumatic decklocking ratchet device acts as a failsafe.

The upper floor is tested to 10 tonnes says PB, but it carries a six tonne SWL rating. Transport and Trailer Engineering of Cleveland helped develop the trailer chassis with its York TEC airsprung running gear.

Companies such as Belling and Wincanton have evaluated the trailer so far. With its 11.7m inner length, 3.86m overall height, the trailer weighs in at 11,160kg but PH's next prototype will be closer it says, to the 10-tonne mark. It will also be equipped with an inner, infra-red safety system that will prevent the floor being lowered onto people or goods.
