• Two Alexander (Belfast)bodied Leyland Tigers will go on trials in Durham next month with Caldaire North East subsidiary United Automobile.
CNE has been comparing five Leyland Lynxes with five Optare Deltas on identical services since February, as part of the selection process for its new vehicle programme.
The Tigers will be bodied by Alexander (Belfast) and will be similar to buses already in service with Smiths Shearings. It is hoped that the Tigers will prove themselires ideal for the longer inter-urban runs.
