• Middlesbrough independent Escort Coaches has sold its bus routes to Caldaire North East in a move which allows CNE to consolidate its services.
Escort has operated four buses on two profitable services from Middlesbrough to Marton and Nunthorpe since deregulation in 1986. Both services competed with Cleveland Transit and CNE subsidiary Tees & District.
Only the service registrations and goodwill has been sold to CNE; no vehicles or staff are involved. Escort runs a number of high-spec Continental tour coaches and selling the bus services frees it to expand its coaching operation.
