watching the World Cup from Mexico, 60 motor trade teams from England and Scotland were battling it out for a good cause in the regional rounds of the Ben/ Motor-Plan national football tournament, the final of which will be played at the Stopsley Park Sports Centre at Luton on Sunday, August 10 at 1.30pm.
The eight teams in the running to play in the quarter and semi-finals on the previous day at the same venue are: Lookers of Chester, Coopers Payen of Slough, Crystal Organisation, Hull, Alexanders Trucks of Edinburgh, Hendy Lennox, Bournemouth, R. H. Collier, Birmingham, Lucas Industries, Hemel Hempstead and Dovercourt St John's Wood, London.
The winning team will be invited to play in a Grand Charity match against the Dennis Waterman X1 later the same day at Leighton Town FC's ground at Leighton Buzzard, kick-off 4pm.
Spectators are welcome at all the matches, and in case you are not sure who Ben is, it's the national trade charity that helps distressed and disabled members and their families, from the motor and allied trades.
