Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• As part of its major swop from rail to road, the Post Office's Royal Mail Parcels is taking more than 250 trailers on long-term contract hire from TIP Trailer Rentals.

TIP already supplies the Royal Mail with trailers to cope with seasonal peaks in demand, and has now supplied eighty 12.2m (4010 and seventy 10m (33ft) semitrailers.

So far there is no news on the plans to hire another 100 tractive units to cope with the increased road-borne business.

The Post Office has brought in this radical plan for its parcels' operations in an effort to save £6 million a year and to improve service.

In May, British Rail, which had carried the Post Office's parcels for 150 years, lost its £13 million a year contract with Post Office parcels.

The Post Office is using its existing fleet of 4,000 vehicles more fully, and is centering its operation around its 30 existing parcel depots.
