Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

An infra-red exhaust analyser designed to measure carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons resulting from incomplete combustion in petrol engines has been announced by Link-Hampson. It is claimed that the unit, which is completely portable and powered by the vehicle's own 12V supply, can be used to detect the majority of common faults associated with carburation and ignition systems.

An accuracy of ± 0.25 per cent carbon monoxide and ± 20 ppm hydrocarbons is guaranteed and the maker claims that the drift is less than 1 per cent of full scale after warm up. The analyser measaes 305 x 292 x 737 mm high (12 x 11.5 x 29 in high) with a 5 m (16.5 ft) pick-up hose and weighs 9 kg (201b).

Price is £650 plus VAT.
