Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A UNIVERSAL base frame for demountables which is claimed to encompass all operational applications has been announced by Pengco Transport Systems Ltd. Freightliner, ISO, tipping, and all forms of leg configuration are catered for in the one frame.

The new Universal frame has jig-assembled T beam central main members and these are fitted with dual application mounting and demounting roller boxes at each end. These roller boxes are constructed with recessible roller wheels for Freightliner rail car applications.

Twin body unit cross-lock housings to lock the frame to the chassis member for either front or rear mounting are standard, while multiple chassis length variations are catered for by the fitment of additional cross-lock housings to suit the number of chassis and wheelbase variations.

Side loading side raves permit standard Load-0Matic square section fixed or telescopic legs to be operated integrally or in an outboard configuration. This latter arrangement is to suit operators who prefer to demount coupled-up drawbar and semi-trailer combinations by pulling straight out in one movement. The spring-loaded leg locking plungers are constructed to enable the leg members to be completely withdrawn when required. The construction of the leg tubes is claimed to prevent jamming by dirt or rust when operated in the recessed position for long periods.

The side raves incorporate Freightliner lift pockets and ISO corner castings. Both ends of the frame can be fitted with retention eyes which hold the frame to the chassis sub-assembly when this is being used for combined demountable and tipping applications.

One feature claimed for the Universal frame is its ability to provide mixed fleet chassis cross operation between high trunking and low feeder chassis either by the adjustable legs or by fitting replacement legs to cater for frame height variation.

Pengco claims that base frames designed and constructed to provide at least 10 years operational life while adapting to virtually every application can introduce substantial economies.
