TWO Monmouthshire haulage com.1. panic were told on Tuesday of the confusion caused by having so many different conditions on their B licences.

The South Wales Licensing Authority, Mr. Ronald Jackson, granted an application by Short Haulage Ltd., Newport, to switch from B to A licence in respect of 16 tippers and two drawbar trailers for the haulage of road building, quarried, excavation and demolition materials, fertilizers and lime, within 75 miles of Abertillery. The company was_ also granted a switch of two -vehicles on Contract A licence to A licence.

D. R. Griffiths of Dingestow, Monmouthshire, was granted a switch of eight tippers from B to A licence Mr. Rosser John, on behalf of Short, said that with all the conditions the firm had on its licences. the managing director had never had a holiday, because he was afraid to leave anyone else behind to sort out the conditions on the vehicles.

The Authority also granted an application by Charrington, Gardner, Lockett (London) Ltd. for a B licence in respect of three maximum-capacity tankers.
