• Buoyed by support from major fresh produce hauliers, GKN Chep plans to introduce its pallet hire system to 39 markets in the UK and Ireland early next year
The idea is that a haulier will not have to exchange pallets at the marketplace and so can de
liver return loads. He can leave his produce and, provided he has the necessary delivery number, he can post it in a special letter box and drive away.
The company has already met with produce hauliers such as R .1 Wood, A Wood, Machin and Fruit Ex, who all welcomed the scheme.
