Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford's long-standing policy of offering only its eightwheel tippers with a Deutz aircooled engine could be slowly thawing.

Until now it has staunchly defended the use of the Deutz power unit in the Maggie 8x4 and shown little interest, at least publicly, in any other engine.

Following the launch of the latest 190.32 tractive unit with the charge-cooled 213kW (318hp) 9.5-litre Iveco engine, (see Brussels Show report on page 46), however, Iveco Ford's marketing director David Gill now says that there won't be a water-cooled engine in the Maggie eight-legger "for a while" — the broadest hint for a long time that the company may be looking at an alternative to the Deutz.

Any replacement to the larger-capacity vee-eight aircooled Deutz power units, currently rated at 188kW and 225kW (252hp and 302hp) in the 300.25 and 300.30, however, are not likely to surface for at least three years.
