Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALL YOU ever wanted to know, but were too scared to ask ... is the sort of expression which comes to mind when reading Doug Jack's second edition of The Leyland Bus (Transport Publishing Company; £25).

The 500-page, 900-picture book updates the first edition of the story, which appeared in 1977 and helped establish the publisher as a leading source of detailed histories of bus manufacturers, bodybuilders and operators.

This latest edition brings the story up to 1983, taking in the creation of Leyland Bus as an autonomous subsidiary of Leyland Vehicles and includes the new models produced since then. The Olympian, Tiger, Cub, Royal Tiger Doyen, DAB artics, National 2 and railbus have all come since then, and the longestablished Atlantean and Leopard have gone. So, too, have the factories at Bristol, Park Royal, Southall and Leeds.

Many of the pictures used in the earlier edition have been replaced by other views, many from Leyland's own extensive collection, and the author has filled gaps and made corrections to the text of the original section. In addition, an index helps guide the busy reader to points of interest.
