Jack Maddock, the dynamic editor-in-chief of Truck and Sus Transportation, Australia's thriving 180-page monthly, has abandoned the rat race while, in his own words, he still has all his marbles. According to his chronicler, his retirement at 59 was encouraged by "his recent miraculous escape from the grim reaper in the disastrous Granville railway crash, when many of the passengers in the same carriage were killed."' This, mark you, was written about a man who never uses two words if one will suffice, Was the aforementioned reaper grim because of the accident or had he merely got it in for Jack? May .my distinguished Australian colleague escape the attention of the crusty farmhand for many years to come.
