Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NUGEAR is the name of semi-trailer landing gear announced by Dowson and Mason Ltd.

The units permit static loading of 40,000lb and provide for an 18in. lift. They can be supplied as singleor three-speed units. The construction incorporates fully lubricated gears and jack-screws. A cast steel ankle-brace carries either elephant feet or wheels, and the single-speed units weigh 2361b while the three-speed units weigh 2761b.

A bolted-on gearbox houses a train of gears which can provide 8, 23 or 68 turns of the operating handle per lin. lift.

The drive shaft can be arranged to provide for operation on both sides of the vehicle and it is carried in substantial ball bearings. Made by: Dowson and Mason Ltd., Alma Works, Levenshulme, Manchester 19.
