DRIVERS and employers from 30 haulage firms in the North East met at Stockton last Friday to hear Shadow Transport Minister Mr. Peter Walker warn that the heavy industries in the North would be severely handicapped by heavy load taxes proposed in the Transport Bill.
"It is ludicrous to encourage industries to go North and then cripple them by the imposition of mileage taxes and abnormal load taxes".

THE RHA campaign against certain provisions of the Transport Bill continues with a series of teach-ins in the sub-areas. These will be followed in February and March by 12 transport "freedom rallies" at main centres in Great Britain.
