ACCOMPANYING illustrations show two Economy horsebox trailers, made by W. A. Greenslade, 80, St. Thomas Street, Bristol, one of which was recently supplied to the War Office, and the other—one of an order for four— to the Indian Government. Among their interesting features are the side curtains, which can be rolled up to afford ventilation—necessary for a hot climate—and the provision of side rails for the ramps. In these respects they differ from the standard models, also in the fact that they have automatic brakes.

A feature of Economy horsebox trailers, claimed to be exclusive, is the design of the front, which enables animals to be led out without detaching the towing vehicle. Other noteworthy points are the centrally hinged partition, the detachability of all interior fittings, the loading ramp which has a slope of 1 in 6 and can be raised and lowered in two sections for ease of handling, and the patented design of screw-down legs.

The box is well padded, and incorporates a groom's corn842 partrnent containing a folding seat, and equipped with hooks for bridles, etc. The internal dimensions are:— Length, 9 ft. 10 ins-; height, 7 ft. 2 ins.; width of each compartment, 2 ft. 5 ins. Thus ample room is afforded for a heavy-weight hunter standing 17 hands

With regard to the chassis, this is of ash reinforced with steel angles. A 2-in, axle is employed, the wheels running

on Timken roller bearings. The brake drums are 12 ins. in diameter, and on the standard model are applied by a lever in the towing vehicle. The wheels are shod with 7.5-in. by 20-in. tyres. The weight is I ton, and the price £155. A smaller trailer for one horse costs £85. Light twowheeled trailers for hounds, farm usage and general purposes, ranging in price from £10 upwards, are also included in Economy products.
